About the Author
Richard E. Davies is a retired United Methodist minister who has had a lifetime concern for interfaith relationships. When he was quite young he lived in Japan, and recalls being very curious about the temples and worship he observed there.
During his ministerial career, he spent several years employed by a Christian ecumenical organization where he worked with all sorts of Christian congregations as well as being involved in interfaith projects. He is also a retired United States Army Reserve chaplain, and once conceived and organized a three-day workshop on “Multi-Faith Ministry” which was attended by chaplains from the active Army, the National Guard, and the Civil Air Patrol, as well as from the U.S. Army Reserve.
As a long time volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America he has served as a council summer camp chaplain, a subcamp chaplain at the 1997, 2001, and 2005 Jamborees, and has spent a summer working as a Protestant Chaplain at Philmont Scout Ranch. He has also served in various positions in Scout units and in Districts and Councils. He has completed Woodbadge and been awarded the Silver Beaver.
